Hootsuite buys Sales Prodigy to boost social selling opportunities

By Sharon Herrnstein

Hootsuite is a popular social media management tool for digital marketers and PR people, but an increasing number of companies are going to start using this platform for social selling thanks to an announcement that Hootsuite made in March.

Hootsuite recently announced that they have bought Sales Prodigy, which is a mobile application that focuses on social selling tools and technology. While the terms of the acquisition hasn’t been disclosed, it’s safe to say that one of the goals will be helping businesses connect with potential customers and clients in real time on social media.

According to a press release by Hootsuite, “Hootsuite customers can quickly and easily find social selling opportunities and start conversations with prospects and customers in real-time on social media.”

Vice President of Corporate Development at Hootsuite, Matt Switzer, says that many companies have invested in social media marketing and providing support to their customers on social media platforms, but there is still a big gap that needs to be addressed when it comes to connecting with prospective customers. The Sales Prodigy acquisition will help Hootsuite to enable clients to use the platform as a lead generation tool as well. I’m excited to see what types of features and functionalities will be offered on this platform soon.
