Mastering Off-Page SEO for Social Selling

What is Off-Page SEO?

Whereas on-page SEO directly optimizes the pages on your website, off-page SEO signals for search engines using backlinks from external resources.

  • Don’t nap… NAP. Huh? NAP stands for name, address and phone number. And, it is what you will need to piggy-back local business listings to boost your online presence. Look for Google My Business, Bing Places for Business, Yelp, Foursquare and Yellow Pages.
  • Speaking of Google tools, consider removing unsavoury links from your website using Google’s Disavow Tool. Simply create a .txt file with a list of irrelevant domains or URLs which could be hurting your rankings, and submit it to Google to tell it not to count those backlinks.
  • Promote your brand (in a non-spammy way) wherever you can. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are the first alternatives that come to mind. Take it a step further by using Facebook Ads, LinkedIn’s Campaign Manager or Sponsored Content and Google’s AdWords. Consider social bookmarking on sites such as StumbleUpon and Scoop.it.
  • Guest posting not only increases your visibility, but it builds RL (real life) relationships.
  • Another way to initiate a partnership is to look for broken links on appropriate websites (even Wikipedia), and offer to replace them with a link to your article or post.
  • Similarly, add value to conversation threads relevant to your business on forums, blog comments, etc.
